WOW….how fast time flies! After a wonderful eight months, it’s now time to take a break from cruising and go back to work. Classes start on Monday, January 9th for Barbara and David has a big renovation project in Fort Myers to finish.
We arrived in Ft Myers on Monday, November 28th and have spent the last month enjoying the new place we bought last spring while “Miss My Money” stayed tied up at the Ft Myers Yacht Basin.
We didn’t spend many nights on the boat while “Miss My Money” was tied up downtown. We had a bunch of projects going on at the new house. We had new floor coverings installed throughout the house, ripped out the old kitchen cabinets and a vanity, closed in a doorway in the kitchen area so we could add more cabinets, and did lots of cleaning and yard work.
We brought “Miss My Money” from the marina out to the house a couple times during the month while we were tied up downtown. Our new place is on the main river channel of the Caloosahatchee River, so “Miss My Money” gets bounced around when she’s tied up to the dock when the big sport fishermen fly through. We hung big fenders to give her some protection and checked out tying her on different sides of the dock and the depths during low tide.
So this will be our last post for a while. We traveled 5,995 miles on “Miss My Money” in the last eight months, putting 546 hours on her engines. 2016 was an awesome year! We hope to be back on “Miss My Money” when the spring semester ends for Barbara on May 1st. Maybe 2017 will include a trip to the Bahamas. A special thanks goes out to the precious old friends that we reconnected with along our travels and to those of you that have followed along virtually. It made it that much more special knowing you were out there!
